“Wanting a thigh gap more than I wanted to be alive.” That made me so sad because it’s true.

I think it’s also important to say: stopping the shrinking doesn’t come for free. The moment you stop softening yourself, there are REAL costs: Social, academic, economic. Getting labeled “difficult, uncooperative, less promotable”. You have to be willing to accept you’re less likely to get the job, the higher salary, etc when you stop playing the game. This isn’t just internal work, women are systemically punished for refusing to adhere to current beauty standards. It’s sickening.
